Stephen Dunkle, partner at Sanger Swysen & Dunkle, was certified as an Appellate Law Specialist by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.  In order to be certified as a specialist, an attorney must pass a written examination, demonstrate a high level of experience in a specialty field, fulfill ongoing legal education requirements and be favorably evaluated by attorneys and judges familiar with the attorney’s work.  Appellate law certification is accorded to relatively few California lawyers.  There are only three certified Appellate Law Specialists in Santa Barbara County and 315 in the entire State.
